Installation of a Million Feet of Water Line
The Letcher County Water and Sewer District along with the Letcher County Fiscal Court celebrated the installation of their millionth linear foot of water line on November 12, 2013. The event took place at the Letcher County Recreation Center and Bell Engineering was pleased to present plaques to both the District and the County for their continued efforts to provide quality water service to the citizens of Letcher County.
Dignitaries in attendance at the event included Senator Johnny Ray Turner; Judge Executive Jim Ward; Bob Scott, Division of Abandoned Mine Lands Director; Mark Meade, Division of Abandoned Mine Lands Assistant Director; Barry Turner, USDA Rural Development Area Director; Greg Pridemore, USDA Rural Development; Bernard Watts, Letcher County Water & Sewer District Chairman; Richard Carter, Letcher County Water and Sewer District Commissioner; Mark Lewis, Letcher County Water and Sewer District General Manager; Magistrate Keith Adams; Magistrate Bobby Howard; Kim Padgett, Rural Community Assistance Program State Director, Mike Miller, Kentucky River Area Development District Executive Director and other community, District and County representatives.
