Monticello Wastewater Treatment Plant Groundbreaking


The City of Monticello, Kentucky, held a groundbreaking ceremony October 4, 2012, to mark the beginning of the Monticello Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project. The project is an expansion of the existing 0.7 mgd WWTP to 1.4 mgd on the existing site.

The project is fully funded through EDA grant and USDA Rural Development grant and loan package.

Dignitaries in attendance at the event included State Representative Sara Beth Gregory; Thomas Fern, USDA Rural Development State Director; Vernon Brown, Rural Utilities Service Program Director; Mayor Jeffrey Edwards, City of Monticello; Judge Executive Greg Rankin, Wayne County; and Gene Jones, Monticello Utilities Commission General Manager. The event was also attended by Monticello council members, other community and utility representatives and Kerry and Joe Smith, owners of Smith Contractors.
